One of our most popular pieces is "Pity" by Michelangelo Buonarroti. The Pietà (1498–1499) is a world-famous work of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. It is the first of a number of works of the same theme by the artist. The statue was commissioned for the French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, who was a representative in Rome. The sculpture, in Carrara marble, was made for the cardinal's funeral monument, but was moved to its current location, the first chapel on the right as one enters the basilica, in the 18th century. Height: 40cm   We have expanded our religious art section with a few Virgins for a really economical price, among these pieces is located the Virgin " The Divine shepherdess " , which is also known as Divine Shepherdess of the Souls , Mother Divine Shepherdess or Mother of the Good Shepherd . The Divine shepherdess is a Marian advocation which represents the Blessed Virgin Mary as the heavenly shepherdess. The origins of the devotion are imprecise until the eighteenth century, but there are references of the Virgin Mary as shepherdess in the life and writings of John the Geometer, St John of God, St Peter of Alcantara, the Venerable Maria Jesus of Agreda, St Mary of the Five Wounds.
