Bust of Giuliano de Medici. 59x30cm   This is a fragment of the Tomb of Giuliano di Medici , Duke of Nemours with Night and Day ", 1521-1524, located at the S agrestia Nova, Medici Chapels at the Basilica of San Lorenzo, Florence, Italy ; the tomb were built by Michelangelo Buonarroti as a personal sepulchre to the Medici family in this basilica, which is considered by the Medici as their private church and located in front of the residential palace in via Larga (presently via Cavour). Bust of Athena Giustinani. H.: 46   The classical Greek sculpture known as the " Athena Giustinani " is named after its best preserved, and most famous Roman version, a monumental statue of the goddess which was once the pride of the Giustinani Collection in Rome and is now in the Vatican Museums .  The Greek bronze original might have been the cult statue of Athena Sunias in the temple dedicated to her at Cape Souunion. Appears to be the only known bust of the Athena Giustiniani type, which was originally carved as a bust.

Height: 30cm   Today we present you a piece from our collection of medium and small classical figures , the head of Hygeia , a work that is attributed to Scopas of Paros in 360 BC, it is located in the National Museum of Athens (Greece). Together with the statue of Asclepius, it is of an inestimable value, because they are the only originals that could be saved from all the works of the author. Hygeia is the daughter of Asclepius, god of medicine and mysteries, this goddess symbolized in ancient times, the health and hygiene, it appears in the Hippocratic oath as a witness of the obligation of the doctor.

Bust of Lucius Verus. 50x20cm   Today we present a bust of the co-emperor Lucius Verus , who reigned alongside Marcus Aurelius. Both were adopted sons of Antoninus Pius on Hadrian's recommendation, and were the first two to reign together in the history of Rome. Both reigned until their deaths.  This figure is presented with antiqued off-white finishes.

High : 27cm     Today we present the bust of the Greek god Ares, which is equivalent to the Roman god Mars, here we have a representation of the god in the neoclassical style. In Greek mythology, Ares is considered the Olympian god of war, but he is more the personification of the brutality and violence as well as the tumult, the confusion and the horrors of battle, in contrast to his stepsister Athena, who represents the meditation and the wisdom in the matters of the war and which protects the humans from the ravages of his stepbrother. The Romans identified him with Mars, the Roman god of war and agriculture (which he had inherited from the Etruscans), the Roman god enjoy of higher esteem.
