Boy with Thorn
Boy with Thorn. 42cm |
We have incorporated in our collection a really good piece, it is the Boy with Thorn or also called Fedele or Spinario, an antique theme of the Visual Arts, and also a popular theme for the sculptures. This piece depicts a naked boy, who is taking a thorn from his left foot.
The Boy with Thorn originally is a Greco-Roman Hellenistic bronze sculpture, that is located now in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome. There exist a Roman marble copy of this theme, which is in the collection of the Medici, and is exposed in a corridor of the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.
