Sculpture of Cupid and Psyche. 14.5x10x17.5cm

At the late age of poetry and the Hellenistic and Roman art, belongs the tender story of "Psyche" -the personification of a soul full of love or, in other times, a butterfly which bore the same name. Psyche, according to the story, was the beautiful daughter of a king. The fame of her beauty aroused the jealousy of Aphrodite, who, to get rid of his rival, commissioned her son Cupid to make her a visit, and to inspire her the love to a common man.
