Saint George killing the Dragon (27x26x15cm)

Saint George killing the Dragon (27x26x15cm)
In the ninth century appears a popular story about St. George on horseback killing a dragon. This story, which is part of the Golden Legend, is also known as "St. George and the Dragon" and is the probable origin of all fairy tales about princesses and dragons in the West. It should be noted that the legend is told in various parts of Europe and Asia Minor as their own (and even in Japan, where you can equate George with the thunder god Susano-oh, the princess with the maid Kushinada and the dragon with Yamata-no-Orochi), so the details vary according to the local tradition.
