Sculpture of The Rape of the Sabines. 55cm   The Rape of the Sabines is a sculpture realized in marble in the year 1583 by Giambologna (Juan de Bolonia) a Franco-Flemish sculptor who was active in Florence during the XVI century. The sculpture was part of the ducal collection of La Loggia and is located in Piazza della Signoria of Florence. This sculpture is inspired in the Rape of the Sabines , a mythological episode which describes the abduction of women from the tribe of the Sabines by the founders of Rome. Head of AntinoĆ¼s with iron base. Height: 40cm   In ancient Rome there was a young man of great beauty named AntinoĆ¼s who was the favorite and lover of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Here we have a reproduction of the Head of the Bust known as AntinoĆ¼s of Ecouen, a marble copy of an original of the 18th century from the Villa Adriana and which is now located in the Prado Museum. Works of the classical Civilizations

At the Gate of the Garden. Canvas by Godward (1861-1922)   Godward was a Victorian Neo-classicist , and therefore a follower of the works of Frederic Leighton , who focused on historical, biblical and classical themes. His works is closer stylistically to Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema , who is known for its sumptuous pictures inspired in the ancient world and with whom he shared the taste for the interpretation of classical architecture , in particular, remains of buildings built in marble. The majority of the existing paintings of Godward shows women with classical dresses, posed against the mentioned landscapes, although is also include some representations semi-nude and fully nude in his works (A notable example is "The Tepidarium" (1913 ), which shares its title with a polemic painting of Alma-Tadema of the same thematic, which resides in the Lady Lever Art Gallery). Papyrus of Roman World Map, Tabula Peutingeriana. 4m   The world map of the Roman Empire " Tabula Peutingeriana " . A papyrus roll of 4 meters in length. The "Tabula Peutingeriana" or Peutinger Table is an itinerary which shows the road network of the Roman Empire. You can see one of the copies in the Austrian National Library in Vienna. They have only survived copies of the original map, the map was made in the fourth century because it appears Constantinople which was founded in 328 and some places of the province of Germania which were destroyed in the fifth century. The map covers Europe, parts of Asia (India) and North Africa. Here you can buy the piece:

Figure of the three Graces. 41cm   We highlight the following newly added product, it is a statue of the three Graces  almost an half a meter high. The work of Antonio Canova " The Three Graces " is a neoclassical sculpture group in marble, which represents the three mythological Charites , daughters of Zeus, which who represent the beauty, charm and joy. The Graces presided banquets and meetings principally to entertain and delight the guests of the Gods. They are identified in some engravings of the statue as (left to right) Euphrosyne, Aglaea and Thalia.
