Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828 - 1882) was a English poet, illustrator, painter and translator. He was a Pre-Raphaelite painter, who at an early age showed a great interest in literature. Like all his brothers, he aspired to be a poet. However, they also wanted to paint, having shown a great interest in Italian art of the Middle Ages. Rossetti was progressively more addressed to the symbolic and mythological images that to the realistic, although the woman always be the central theme of his work.
