Neoclassicism appeared in the XVIIIth century to describe in a pejorative way the aesthetic movement, which came be reflected in the arts the intellectual principles of the Enlightenment, which since the mid-eighteenth century had been taking place in philosophy, and consequently had been transmitted to all the fields of the culture. However, the Neoclassicism went losing adepts in favor to the Romanticism. The Neoclassicism arose from the desire to recover the traces of the past, which remind the great works of ancient Greek and Roman cultures.
