The Rape of the Sabines is a sculpture realized in marble in the year 1583 by Giambologna (Juan de Bolonia) a Franco-Flemish sculptor who was active in Florence during the XVI century. The sculpture was part of the ducal collection of La Loggia and is located in Piazza della Signoria of Florence. This sculpture is inspired in the Rape of the Sabines, a mythological episode which describes the abduction of women from the tribe of the Sabines by the founders of Rome.
